Solution 7 Firewall and Proxy Guide
The firewall and proxy settings needed to let Solution 7 communicate with NetSuite.
A firewall protects your network or computer from unwanted internet traffic — its job is to let good traffic pass and block bad traffic. This article explains the firewall and proxy settings needed for Solution 7 to successfully communicate with NetSuite.
Solution 7 architecture
Solution 7 connects to NetSuite using NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Connect. Connections are secured by the SuiteAnalytics Connect ODBC driver to prevent data interception via man-in-the-middle attacks.
No data passes through Solution 7
No data is transmitted via Solution 7 infrastructure or stored on Solution 7 servers. The connection is directly between your machine and NetSuite.
NetSuite IP addresses
Do not manage access by IP address
NetSuite does not support using NetSuite IP addresses to access or manage access to any NetSuite services. IP addresses of NetSuite services may change at any time without notice — allow-list by domain name instead (see below).
For background, read SuiteAnswers Answer ID 9828, or search the NetSuite Help Center for "NetSuite IP Addresses".
Managing access to NetSuite services
If you are programming a firewall for your company's outbound requests (inbound to NetSuite), allow *.netsuite.com to enable all entry points, and open the following ports:
| Port | Used for |
|---|---|
80 |
Non-secure HTTP pages |
443 |
Secure HTTPS pages |
1708 |
SuiteAnalytics Connect access |
Account-specific service URLs
If you would prefer to allow-list account-specific service URLs instead of the wildcard domain, these can be found in NetSuite by logging in as an Administrator and navigating to Setup → Company Information → Company URLs.
Example URLs — replace ACCOUNTID with your NetSuite Account ID:
https://ACCOUNTID.suitetalk.api.netsuite.com
ACCOUNTID.connect.api.netsuite.com:1708
Proxy servers and NetSuite
Proxy servers are not recommended by NetSuite
NetSuite recommends you should not access NetSuite using a proxy server.
For more on using proxy servers with NetSuite, read SuiteAnswers Answer ID 106703, or search the NetSuite Help Center for "Optimize Firewalls and Proxy Servers".
Troubleshooting
If you experience performance issues, unexpected error messages, slow-loading pages, or frequent time-outs when accessing NetSuite, try connecting from a location outside of the firewall to confirm whether the firewall is the cause.
Common Error Message: TCP/IP error, connection refused
This dialog indicates a problem with your network firewall settings — you will need to allow-list the required URLs and ports listed above. If you need help configuring your network firewall, contact your network administrator.
How do I confirm the firewall is the problem?
Connect to NetSuite from a network outside your corporate firewall (for example, a mobile hotspot). If Solution 7 connects successfully there but not on the corporate network, the firewall or proxy configuration is the cause and the domains and ports above need to be allow-listed.
